On October 13, 2008, Beijing, China - ABB,the world's leading power and

automation technology group,recently signed a high-speed wire rod production line

contract with Tangshan Shougang Baoye Steel Co., Ltd.(Shougang Baoye), a subsidiary

of Shougang Group.As a key project of Shougang Baoye Phase I, the high-speed

wire rod production line project will fully adopt ABB's leading electrical and automation systems to enhance

the reliability and flexibility of production line operation and reduce energy consumption.

According to the contract, ABB will provide two high-speed wire production lines with electrical

systems with leading efficiency and energy saving characteristics.The system adopts advanced

system equipment andcontrol theory,including the advanced AC800 series programmable controller

(PLC) and ABB new efficiency and energy-saving modular induction AMI motor,the world's most advanced

integrated gate commutated thyristor (IGCT) components of the medium-voltage transmission equipment

ACS6000 and low-voltage transmission equipment ACS800 based on insulated gate bipolar transistor

(IGBT) components.Because the two sets of transmission systems adopt ABB'sunique direct torque

control (DTC) control technology,which can achieve accurate control of motor torque and speed, t

hus effectively helping customers achieve energy conservation and emission reduction.
