Welcome to THANKSGIVING DAY

Thanksgiving is a national holiday celebrated on various dates in the United States, Canada,

Grenada, Saint Lucia, Liberia, and unofficially in countries like Brazil and the Philippines.

It is also observed in the Dutch town of Leiden and the Australian territory of Norfolk Island.

It began as a day of giving thanks for the blessings of the harvest and of the preceding year

(similarly named harvest festival holidays occur throughout the world during autumn, including

in Germany and Japan).

Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth

Thursday of November in the United States and around the same part of the year in other places.

Although Thanksgiving has historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, it has long been

celebrated as a secular holiday as well.

Thanksgiving Food

In many American families, Thanksgiving celebrations have lost their original religious significance;

Instead, it now centers around cooking and sharing rich meals with family and friends. Türkiye is the

staple food of Thanksgiving Day. It is ubiquitous and has almost become the synonym of this festival.

When the Pilgrims held their inaugural banquet in 1621, Türkiye may or may not have.
However, according to the data of the National Federation of Türkiye, today, nearly 90% of Americans

eat this bird on Thanksgiving Day, whether it is roasted, roasted or fried. Other traditional foods include

fillings, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Volunteer service is a common Thanksgiving

activity, where communities often hold food events and offer free dinners for the unfortunate.
